Take a look at the exhibit on this site. These Bosphorus painters worked from 1650 - 1910 travelling to the Orient and painting portraits that provide a visual history of that time period. After viewing the museum exhibit comment on the following: Which group of portraits were your favourite? What do you think inspired the artists to paint them? What did you learn from the paintings about the culture?
Watch this video and then explain why the Mona Lisa is so famous. Remember to check other classmates comments so that you don't write the same thing.
I was excited to find this site where we can visit a number of different museums
all over the world. Not only can you go to a virtual museum you can find art by different artists and make your own collection of favourites. Here is a link to a site that I visited The Bus. I would like you to go to the site and compare the two different projects. In terms of the elements of design how are they different and what things might appear the same? Which piece do you like better? How does the title of each change the way you view each of the pieces? "Galatea of the Spheres is a painting by Salvador Dalí made in 1952. It depicts Gala Dalí, Salvador Dalí's wife and muse, as pieced together through a series of spheres. The name Galatea refers to a sea nymph of Classical mythology renowned for her virtue, and may also refer to the statue beloved by its creator, Pygmalion." wikipedia
When I look at this, my first thought is how the spheres flow around a vantage point like a clock. The spheres actually represent atoms! Why atoms? Why do you think the artist created this piece and how do you think it's been made? Do you like it? Here is a link to another site where you can learn more about Salvador Dali. |
Art BlogThis space is where we can comment with each other about pieces of art. Remember your comments are important and should reflect any investigations you have made about the art work. Archives
